We hope that you are having a great summer! Ours has been very good so far. We are able to take some vacation time to visit some friends in the Washington D. C. area. We also just returned from a very brief trip to Chattanooga for a wedding. Now our kids are enjoying the last couple of weeks of summer vacation.
Celebrating 25 Years of Ministry!
This month marks the completion of Lynn’s 25th year with Cru: High School! The time has certainly flown by. We are so grateful for those of you who have been a part of her team for the past quarter century. In 1987, Lynn had just graduated from Rice University when she began to serve with Cru. Her first assignment was Boulder, Colorado. She enjoyed two great years there reaching and discipling some incredible girls. From Boulder, Lynn moved on to San Diego, California. While there, she trained several new Cru: High School staff women. She also helped begin new Cru ministries at several high schools. While in San Diego, she met Dave, who was serving Cru in Minneapolis at the time. After a long distance courtship, we married in 1992 and Dave joined Lynn in San Diego. In the fall of 1993, we moved to Orlando. Lynn continued to reach and disciple high school girls and train new Cru: High School staff for several more years. As our family began to grow, she stepped away from direct field ministry and continued to assist with training in a more supervisory way – overseeing those training our new staff and helping write and implement various training curriculum. She is now balancing time as a homeschooling mom with her role at Training Specialist on the Leadership Development team. She looks forward to all the Lord has for her in the future.
Speaking of Lynn, she is currently immersed in a new project. For several years, Cru has used a “Wiki” based system for delivering training to the new staff, interns, and volunteers. This fall, the training will be moved to a “Moodle” based format. This transition will allow for more interaction among trainees in an e-learning environment. It will also enable us to increase accountability and oversight of the training process. Finally, it will make distance coaching of trainees much easier which will ultimately mean that more laborers will be equipped. Please pray for Lynn and her team as they spend extra time over the next month working on this project. She hopes to have the vast majority of work done before our kids start back to school.
We are so grateful for all the prayers and financial support that has made the last twenty-five years of ministry possible. You are making a huge difference in the lives of young people all over the United States and the world!
Thanks SO much!
